glam-onday

blazer: h&m
top: h&m
skirt: h&m
sheer maxi cardigan: forever21
shoes: zara
necklace: zara

It's Monday, and what's better to do while I wait around to go to work? Play dress up! Seeing all the glitter, lights and growing holiday spirit, I was feeling a little glamorous. Here, I layered a sheer maxi cardigan (for $7!) underneath a peplum top, all tucked into a fuzzy abominable snowman-esque skirt and topped off with a blazer and some Zara bling. The necklace (courtesy of my sister, Bri) goes great with anything, especially boyfriend jeans, a simple t-shirt and chunky moto boots.
With that being said, Happy Monday and off to work I go! In a different outfit :) I'll share in another post!

this ain't no rodeo

A little western flare from the likes of some of my favorites: Acne, H&M, Zara, Thakoon, and Isabel Marant. Cowboy gettup will never go out of style in my book.

this is halloween, this is halloween

Me..

And my inspiration......

Phillip Lim Fall 2012

Romance Was Born SS II 2012 Berserkergang
(Romance was born quite literally after I saw this line; I've fallen in love!.. And basically with every other creative work from the two masterminds behind this Australian fashion label, Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales. Check more out HERE. You'll be glad you did!)

And of course, I was most inspired by the late American pop artist, Roy Lichtenstein, who's birthday was October 27.. the day I turned myself into a human form of pop art. How weird is that?! My friend informed me of this the day of.. I had no idea!

Now for the making of my costume:

I basically already had everything.. The shirt was from TJ Maxx, little sequin knickers from Topshop (previously used two Halloweens ago for a ventriloquist doll costume), black leather over-the-knee boots, which you can't see, were from hautelook.com, and white leather belt from American Eagle, bought a long time ago. The belt buckle I found online from The Alley Chicago. It couldn't have been more perfect for my costume; I love it!

Now for the arts and crafts:

For the gloves.. I found them in the Halloween section at Target. I cut off the fingers (thought that would look cooler), painted red dots with acrylic paint and added lightening bolts and other random pieces of felt cut into what I thought looked comic book-ish.
For the shirt.. Using felt again, I cut out lettering and a crazy, spiky bubble and sewed it on.
For the clutch.. I cut out pieces of foam paper into quote bubbles, slapped some glue on and pasted them to a cheap black wristlet from Walmart. The letters (and symbols on the opposite side) were, again, cut from felt.

Makeup:

I'm not a huge makeup guru, [but I am a glamor guru.. ;) HA!, name of my blog..anyway..] so I was a little afraid I wouldn't be able to pull this off.
I used:
-L'Oréal BB cream to even out my skin
-my regular concealer and eye brightener (Neutrogena, I think?)
-Light purple shadow on my lids and a creamy white on the brow bone from Victoria's Secret
-Revlon liquid eyeliner for all the countours and dramatic brows
-Rimmel white eyeliner pencil for the glared lip
-Rimmel red lip liner
-Sephora red lipstick in C28
-false lashes, L'Oréal Voluminous Mascara in blackest black
-And white Halloween face paint

Happy Halloween!

pattern pattern

pants: ann taylor
shirt: gap
shoes: jeffrey campbell
necklaces: the limited, forever21

Pants are more fun to wear with a pattern. I got this pair while in Gainesville about a month ago when Ann Taylor decided to have 50% extra off already reduced priced items (score!). I'd love to layer them up with cute boots and a thick and chunky cream cable knit sweater when it starts getting chilly, but they're linen, which technically isn't supposed to be worn in the winter.. Since when do I follow the rules?

head to toe

dress: free people
blouse: tj maxx
hat: old navy
shoes: target
scarf: h&m
necklaces: tj maxx, pottery barn

I'm in sale finds from head to toe today. Shh don't tell anyone.. ;) The most expensive item on me is the Free People dress. Only $20! Can't beat that. I love the angled hem and neutral, gray-ish color.  It's a clingy little number, so the sheer sleeveless blouse makes it a little more modest for day. I'm also sporting my favorite Pottery Barn lobster cracker turned necklace (last seen HERE).

red, white and savvy

shirt: walmart
skirt: h&m
boots: zara
studded belts: gap
bracelets: kohls, vintage
ring: vintage
This is a great summer to fall transitional outfit, wouldn't you say? Fall is my favorite season, mostly because of the clothes. And boots. I'm a huge fan of boots. I got this pair last year from Zara for only 30 bucks! They're accessorized here with belts from Gap I got for $6 each while in New York last week. The skirt was another steal for $5. I'm just full of good buys lately! So savvy I am.

maxxinista

dress: free people ($50, originally $200)
oversized flower: the limited

I found this wonderful Free People crochet knit dress at TJ Maxx this week. I love its delicateness and mermaid shape. Underneath I have on high-waisted shorts from Urban Outfitters and a Rodarte for Target suit top. Beach cover-up by day, flirty and fun dress by night!

the wow

shirt: seneca rising for pacsun (sale $15)
skirt: h&m ($5)
lipstain: sephora ($19)
clutch by 40 winkz

A bright lip and a fun clutch; simple accessories that pack a lot of punch. The clutch is custom-made by my oh so talented friend from work, Cisi. She really wowed me with this one. Great quality, perfect size, totally me! It also has nice little zippers (love when clutches have zippers!) so nothing falls out. She does purses, diaper bags, and other special orders, too. Check it all out HERE.
Lipstains are my favorite right now, especially when I'm dressed a little plain and need a dash of wow. The one I'm wearing is Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick in Backstage Bambi. It's hot. It's pink. It's wow.
And that rhyming in the first sentence.. didn't even try :)

chic + gym

sofia fanego by gianluca fontana for io donna, march 2012
Love the hint of sport; pockets, hooded vests, shiny activewear fabrics, running short hemline on that long skirt
