...

I recently found this skirt at a vintage shop on my college campus. I love its whimsy and incredible ability to spring back to shape after being balled up and smashed in the depths of my closet.

sun and wind

(Romper-Target ; scarf- H&M ; boots-Coach)
Yesterday was the first 80 degree day of the year with awesomely warm winds. My sister and I spent a little quality time together playing in the sun and climbing trees. I felt like a kid again :)

As I was browsing aimlessly through racks the other day at Target, not finding anything I really liked, my Mom called my name, I looked up, and in her arms was this lovely dress. My face immediately lit up and I ran over. I knew from the eccentric shape and color that it couldn't be Target brand. To my surprise the tag read, Jean Paul Gaultier. Since the Jean Paul Gaultier for Target line only goes to a limited amount of stores, I didn't think I would be lucky enough to get at least one piece from the line but, turns out I did; and it was marked down for half the price!
I love the greenish-yellow color. It reminds me of the colors used in the Proenza Schouler Spring 2010 line, which inspired me to throw on the heavy bangles, electric blue pumps and tribal bracelets to my ankles.

heavier than air

I got this romper almost 2 years ago from Old Navy. It's amazingly comfortable and so easy. That's why I love rompers; all you have to do is jump right in and button it up.
I piled on belts to keep things interesting. The red one is from Old Navy, the leather silver studded-AE and the black and gold studded-Gap. I got a utility, aviator type of vibe from all the pockets, buttons and loops so I clipped on a mens Aldo watch to one of the belts. Who says watches can only be worn on your wrist.

i'll sing you a sweet song if you say to

I decided to play with this annoying piece of tulle that's been floating around my room for months. Nothing too interesting. I also did some playing around with my hair. I attempted that slightly messy, airy, brushed-out-curls look. After some curling, upside down hair-flips and taking a brush to it, it definitely was messy. I don't usually brush it; I've heard it's damaging so, I like sticking to 'fingering' through it.
I have a love-hate relationship with my hair. If there is an ounce of moisture in the air, it immediately frizzes up and starts to curl awkwardly. Most girls complain about their hair going flat because of the humidity; my biggest complaint is it's weird, poofy-ness. It's not so fun.
The lack of my posting has really been getting to me. School has fully taken over my life; like usual. But, spring break is next week. No vacation for me so, I plan on catching up on my blogging, watching my favorite morning shows and hopefully doing some spring shopping!

925 mexico

(dress-karmaloop.com ;; random bangles-target, h&m, banana republic ;; necklace worn around ankle-gap ;; rings on right hand- the limited, target ;; rings on left hand-vintage)
I stole this wonderful bat wing dress from my sister for these photos (sorry, Bri). I needed something simple yet with a dramatic aspect. I don't quite know what made me decide to pile on all those heavy bangles around my neck. It could be that I tend to get bored of wearing things how they're supposed to be worn. There's no one way to wear something; reinterpretation is key.
I picked up the massive ring on my left forefinger at a vintage shop that I stumbled upon near my campus. It was only 20 bucks so it wasn't a hard-hit to my poor college pocket. It's sterling silver, too so I just couldn't pass it up.

odd one out

(jacket, vintage : opaque tights, Target : striped tank, Gap)
I got this wonderfully embellished cropped, matador-ish jacket at a new local consignment shop in town called, Little Green Dress. I haven't really worn it much yet. I'm too afraid to harm the intricate beading by layering my puffy black down coat over it (Midwest weather is very hard to dress in), so I'll continue to wait until the weather permits.
I was very impressed with the store; lots of fabulous fur and things that sparkled; great quality, too. Since there isn't even a mall in the town I live and for the lack of fashion enthusiasts, it's nice to finally have somewhere close I can go to actually do some shopping.
